The troop held its annual Turkey Feast at Camp Forty Acres in Wilmington On November 23rd. The scouts cooked 8 turkeys, 3 hams, 9 apple pies and all the sides outdoors and served them to 60 friends and family. The evening ended with the traditional campfire. Check out the pictures from the event in our photo library.
In preparation for the Klondike Derby, the troop headed down to New England Base Camp in Milton to practice our cold weather camping and cooking skills. We certainly got some practice this weekend! With temps falling to the single digits, the scouts learned to improvise and adapt in order to stay warm. As an unexpected bonus, Scoutmaster Emeritus, Mr. Iler was in camp teaching ice climbing and was able to get everyone in the troop harnessed up to climb the 40 ft rope ladder. Even simple things like climbing become more of a challenge in the cold temps!
