Earning the Eagle Scout rank is a major milestone — and it starts with knowing what’s ahead. If you're a Life Scout, you're almost there. This page gives you a quick look at what comes next, just for members of Troop 103.
To earn Eagle, every Scout must:
Be active in the troop for 6 months as a Life Scout.
Complete 21 merit badges, including 14 required ones like First Aid, Citizenship in the Nation, Personal Management, and more.
Serve actively in a leadership role in the troop.
Plan and carry out an Eagle Scout service project that benefits your community (and demonstrates your ability to lead others).
Attend a Scoutmaster conference and complete your Eagle Board of Review.
You don’t have to figure it all out on your own — we’ll walk you through it.
Once you achieve Life Scout, the Troop 103 Scoutmaster will contact you directly to explain your next steps and offer guidance.
This will include:
Where you stand with merit badges
What comes next in the Eagle process
Expectations for communication and planning
Where to find Troop 103 resources
Before you start your Eagle project, you’ll need to understand the Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook. It’s more than just forms; it's instructions, rules, and required approvals:
Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook
Be sure to read it thoroughly before beginning any work.
From choosing a project idea and finding a mentor, to writing and presenting your proposal, gaining approvals, organizing workdays, and leading volunteers, Troop 103 leaders will be with you every step of the way. Once your project is approved, you’ll plan and run the work sessions, communicate clearly with volunteers, and track attendance so service hours can be accurately recorded. After the hands-on work is complete, we’ll help you document your hours, finish your project report, and prepare for your Scoutmaster Conference and Eagle Board of Review. You don’t have to navigate this process alone; our goal is to help you stay organized, supported, and confident as you finish strong on your path to Eagle.
