Patrol Box Responsibility
The Patrol Box (also known as a chuck box or camp kitchen box) contains the patrol’s cooking equipment and supplies used during camping trips. After returning home, the Scout(s) responsible for the patrol box must:
The Patrol Box (also known as a chuck box or camp kitchen box) contains the patrol’s cooking equipment and supplies used during camping trips. After returning home, the Scout(s) responsible for the patrol box must:
1. Inventory & Organization
Check that all essential items are in the box before and after each trip (e.g., pots, pans, utensils, hanging drying rack, etc.).
Make sure everything is stored in an organized and accessible way. (Refer to the video above for guidance.)
Report any missing or broken items to the Quartermaster.
2. Cleanliness
Clean all equipment thoroughly after use. Washing the drying rack is at times required. (Machine washing it inside of one of the bags with the carabiners removed is a good idea.)
Wipe out the inside of the patrol box to remove food crumbs, dirt, and spills.
Ensure all gear is completely dry before putting it away to prevent rust or mold.
3. Safety
Store all equipment safely, especially knives — they must be secured in their sheaths.
Watch for any hazards, such as sharp items left loose or rust forming on gear.
